It is my mission and my calling to make my services accessible and affordable, while also being able to make a living. If my rates are such that paying them would create a hardship for you, I would love to hear from you and find a way for you to get the care that you need. Please consider that “hardship,” to me, means that paying for healthcare would endanger your ability to: make rent, pay essential bills, cover your basic transportation needs, provide for your children &/or other dependents, and/or keep food on your table. Discounts for students, musicians and other cultural workers, single parents, and elders always available; just ask.
As for insurance, to the best of my knowledge, there are no health insurance companies in Louisiana that cover acupuncture when practiced by a state-licensed and nationally-certified acupuncturist with over 5,000 hours of training, such as myself. Other professions, with significantly less training, are able to bill insurance for acupuncture (in the case of an MD) or “dry needling,” (which is what physical therapists call the acupuncture they’re allowed to do, after completing a weekend workshop).
